Network Programmer

Aether Studios is looking for a network programmer to create and maintain online play across all of the studio’s titles. Be part of the growing team that created the smash success Rivals of Aether as we build the best online experience for players. 

Role Responsibilities

  • Plan, create, and support the multiplayer network systems for all of Aether Studios titles developed in Unreal Engine 4 and Game Maker 2.
  • Make recommendation to the team as to how optimize for online play
  • Document network systems and field inquiries as the subject matter expert
  • Propose initiatives to enhance the titles network capabilities for the the best player experience

Role Qualifications

  • Experience with Unreal Engine Netcode 
  • Experience with online systems across multiple platforms
  • Communication skills in explaining problems to non-experts
  • Can write reliable, optimized, and well organized code
  • Self-directed, focused, and detail-oriented
  • Understanding of computer and console game networking systems and technologies (e.g. peer-to-peer and client/server models, latency compensation, etc.)

Role Preferences

  • Love of online video games
  • Interest in fighting game “Rollback” netcode
  • Familiarity with the fighting game genre
